| Ivanhoe Crossing across the Ord River north of Kununurra was reported open. And it looks ok from the air, right? But "ground truth" is quite different. No, that's not me in the car. We opted not to cross. Didn't want to tempt the crocodiles. | |

| Fitzroy River crossing was also reported open. We could see it was dry at the bottom, in spite of considerable sand on the road. We did cross here, and all went well ... but we just barely made it up the other side before getting company on the one lane road. | |

| We also didn't try these in the Exmouth area and across the Gibb River, thinking the wet clay was a challenge that neither we, nor our non-4 x 4 vehicle, would win. So the final score was Crossing - 1; No Crossing - 3. | |
