Just south of the Tropic of Capricorn along a lonely stretch of Australia 1, the main highway that goes all the way around the continent, we left our mark.  Our Australian inukshuk.  First cousin the the inukshuk we built last year in Labrador

We couldn't find quite the right rocks to build a sturdy icon, so he ended up with branches for arms.  Nevertheless, he's there.  He follows the tradition of his ancestors in Labrador, where inukshuk are built by the natives as trail markers to show the way and give encouragement to fellow travelers in remote areas.

We've decided to make it a tradition to build an inukshuk in every country we visit.  To see our Labrador inukshuk, click here.
