Inukshuk #5 at Chena Hot Springs, Alaska If you have followed the travels of the Gray Nomads, you know that -- since we met our stoic friend Mr. Inukshuk in Labrador, we always try to build a likeness somewhere during our travels.

Inukshuk ("in the image of man") were built by the Labrador Inuit as guide posts to encourage and direct fellow travelers.  Although in their original usage the particular designs and stances gave particular directions, today  the stone characters have become a way for modern travelers in the Canadian Artic region to leave a tiny bit of themselves to brighten and populate lonely roads.  We liked that idea, and we do the same.

As you can tell, our construction skills haven't improved,  but the message is still sincere -- the way is safe; enjoy!
